Review of St. Louis, Missouri

Wasteland City, U.S.A.
Star Rating - 2/10/2008
If people truly, in their heart, feel safe in the City of St. Louis, then something is definitely not right with them. According to the FBI, St. Louis has an amazing 2,000 violent crimes committed per 100,000 residents (where 450 is the national average and a 700 is considered high). I have visited St. Louis several times, and I think it is a wasteland ridden with crime, trash, gangs, and drugs. But that's not the whole story! A friend of mine told me that he knew this woman who worked for this guy in St. Louis, but she quit after finding out that he worked for the Russian Mafia. You heard that right -- St. Louis not only has generic street gangs, but the Russian Mafia as well!

St. Louis, being the wasteland that it is, does have a few positives. The school system, while not exactly great, is better than in many big cities. The cost of living and housing is low. The economy is very diverse, and there are plenty of things to do (such as visiting the Gateway Arch), but those two positives are very typical of a big city. All things considered, St. Louis is one of the worst places to live in the country. Avoid it at all costs, and don't say I didn't warn you!

St Louis is the worst place I have ever been on Earth. This has nothing to do with crime, just everything overall. I don't understand why Clint insists on referring to it as a "big city". It's nothing more than a small town with rednecks and scumbags. WORST sports town in the Country, as evidenced by the fact that nobody here knows ANYTHING about sports that don't occur here. WORST food of anywhere I've ever been, as evidenced by "St Louis style" pizza. My grandparents are rolling over in their grave thinking of this swill. A tortilla shell, no sauce, and a fictional cheese (provel)??? Clint is also wrong about there being things to do, THERE IS NOTHING. Old, run down buildings, terrible sights, horrible drivers, and just a complete ignorance in this place. OH, and "Dale", the "great neighborhoods" are littered with wannabe homes that are covered with awful plastic siding and wish they had a sturdy foundation in a REAL CITY. Keep shucking that corn and sucking on Mama's tit, hopefully you'll all die here without a sound.....

Clint, I have lived in both St Louis suburbs and now city (St. Louis Hills...look it up and then judge the ENTIRE city based off your small sample set and he said she said rumors), and I enjoy the clty much more and feel just as safe. Like every large city (not Barry, IL) you must be cognizant of your surroundings at all times. What areas of town have you visited "several times" (which strikes me a strange if you don't like this place so much)? Downtown has undergone more than $5BLN in renovations since the last 1990's and is still being revitalized. Great neighborhoods are everywhere in the city. Soulard, Lafayette Square, Benton Park, South Hampton, St. Louis Hills, Central West End, Clayton Tamm.......yeah, these are horrible places to live. Your lack of knowledge is clear in stating that the St Louis city public schools are better than most cities. They aren't even accredited at the moment, sport. Do your homework, find out where the crime happens, and come back with some validity in your statement.
